Even though Snoop and Brown said that they are going to make a song together nothing has been planned yet. "We got to get our music back," Brown said backstage (before one of his shows). "We get our music back, we won't have so much problems.(in the world) And our music has to say something, other than what you're gonna do to somebody, whether you're gonna off somebody, how you're gonna whack 'em. "We used to use music to get in our car and go off in the woods with our girlfriends. They don't know what to do with music now. They make music to go fight and kill people with. We used music to make love by." Source: James Brown Says Things Have Never Been Worse MTV News, 28 Oct 2002, accessed Oct 29 2002 |

Snoop Dogg and James Brown are planning to record a song together for the soundtrack for the Miramax film, My Baby's Mama starring Eddie Griffin and Anthony Anderson, according to producer Quaze, who worked with Snoop and Bootsy Collins on the Undercover Brother soundtrack. Snoop and the godfather of soul are expected to work on the collaboration Friday (October 25) at Snoop's studio. When Brown appeared on Snoop's syndicated radio show last week, Snoop asked Brown to make a song with him for the soundtrack. "James Brown came out there to do an interview with [Snoop]," Quaze told LAUNCH, "and after the interview was over, Snoop said, 'I want you to hear this song my producer Quaze produced.' And the beat came on, and James was singing the chorus with me. He said, 'Done deal.' We gon' do the song next week when I get back in town.'" Quaze produced the song "Undercova Funk (Give Up The Funk)," for the Undercover Brother soundtrack, which features Snoop, Collins, and Mr. Kane. The first single off Snoop's upcoming album Paid Tha Cost to Be Da Boss is called From The Chuuch to The Palace. Snoop Dogg isn't behaving his old self in his new video, and it has nothing to do with not smoking pot anymore. Something else has taken over his actions. "A little Snoop Dogg fan of mine, he's got my little action figure doll and somehow, some way, he makes the action figure move me, so whatever the doll does, I does," Snoop explained on the set of the video, directed by Diane Martel (Eve, N.E.R.D.). "He's controlling me and making me knock things over, touch people in different ways. And I finally meet up with him and get control of him and grab my doll back and just save the day. "It's a nice, fun video," the laid-back rapper continued. "I'm just trying to have fun and leave the violence to the left. I got violent [songs] on my record, but this video's a fun [song], and it's all about me having fun." The Neptunes-produced "From Tha Chuuch to Tha Palace" is Snoop being himself, dropping brag rhymes like "I still got the gin and juice in hand." "It's just sayin' I'm back, even though I ain't never went nowhere," Snoop explained. "It's been two years since I had a song on record, so [I'm] just lettin' everybody know that I been listenin', I been hearin' about this and that and whatnot, and I'm back to take my throne back from all these suckers in the game." In general, Snoop's sixth album and first on his own Doggy Style label, Paid Tha Cost to Be Da Boss, is about celebrating his successes and reclaiming the respect he feels is due. "I was the under-boss in the beginning, and I moved up to the captain and I became a general," the rapper said, recalling his days on Suge Knight's Death Row and Master P's No Limit labels. "And now I'm the muthaf---in' boss, so I paid the cost to be the boss. It speaks for itself." Along with the Neptunes, Snoop's November 26 release features production work from DJ Premier, Hi-Tek and Jelly Roll as well as guest vocals by Ludacris, Redman, Lady of Rage and others. Jay-Z also appears, along with Nate Dogg, Soopafly and producer Just Blaze on the track "Lollipop." And speaking of lollipops, Paid Tha Cost to Be Da Boss includes what is bound to be a memorable diss track in "Pimp't Slapped". "Anybody that calls me out is a lollipop, a sucker," Snoop said as he licked his own lollipop. "I never paid no attention to him, but it just got to a point to where it was like every time I put a record out, [Knight] put a record out with me on it. And [he's always] talkin' about me and tryin' to get at me and just doin' negative things towards me and mine, so I just wanted to stand up to him and let him know that I ain't no punk and I ain't no little boy. I'm a grown-ass man and the way you bring it is the way you gotta take it." While "Pimp't Slapped" also calls out Kurupt and Xzibit and appears to address frustrations about other West Coast rappers not standing up to Knight, Snoop said his only beef is with the Death Row founder. "I got love for everybody that I started with, Dr. Dre, Daz ...," Snoop said. "I still love Kurupt even though he made a stupid-ass move by signing with Death Row, doing whatever he doing. Who exactly Snoop is these days has the hip-hop world wondering, now that the man known for rapping "rollin' down the street smokin' indo" has gone clean. Well here in Sydney its already the 20th of October so happy birthday to Snoop! Notice the annoying Hoe Down version of 'Happy Birthday' playing? I like it so its going to stay on for the intro music for this week.. hehe Anyway I think Snoop is 31, though some are saying he is 30, but he's much much more likely to be 31. I don't know what he's doing to celebrate but I'm sure its something good... last year he was filming his debut adult flick Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle at his house! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! |

Snoop Dogg, along with other rappers such as Busta Rhymes and Fabolous, have created their own songs specifically for the basketball game NBA Live 2003, coming out on the 29th October. Busta Rhymes also doubles as a secret character in the game (it is unconfirmed whether Snoop or any other rappers are hidden characters). Seven songs, along with a skit by music supervisor 3H, make up a companion disc that will be included in the game's package. "It was a song I made in my studio, you know, took my time," Snoop said. "I was watching 'NBA Live 2002' while I was actually making the song, you know what I'm saying, you know to see what I thought it could be or what it should be." The song by Snoop is called 'Get Live', with preview playings of the game indicating that the rap soundtrack works well with the game. As reported a while back, VH1 was creating a new TV series, with one episode featuring Snoop. It's called "Rock the House," and it lets musicians loose inside the homes of regular folks to redecorate a room in the artist's "own signature style," whatever that means. Each week, a friend or significant other will make some excuse to get the person out of the house, whereupon his or her favorite musical artist will descend with one of the show's designers -- Hollywood production-design veterans Kelly Van Patter and Paul Roome -- to redo a room. A hidden camera, meanwhile, follows the unsuspecting music fans they go about whatever they've been sent away to do. Former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar is featured in the premiere episode, scheduled for 10 p.m. ET Monday, Oct. 28. Other artists taking part include Snoop Dogg, Paula Abdul, Tommy Lee, Ice-T and "Weird" Al Yankovic. Lisa Snowdon, of the BBC's "Top of the Pops" show, is the host of "Rock the House." There are unconfirmed suggestions that Snoop will play streetwise hustler 'Huggy Bear', (a hip-hop informant who kept the detectives in the know on the TV series) in Warner Bros planned update of the classic TV series Starsky & Hutch. The movie stars Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller and will focus on the formation of the formidable crime fighting duo. Filming due to start in February, with Road Trip director Todd Phillips at the helm.
